The following photographs comprise of a series that we took while on a Headwater walking holiday by the Creuse river in central France, back in 2003. It is a region of exceptional beauty and tranquillity and is famous for Monet’s painting of the confluence of the Creuse and Petit Creuse rivers. Situated not far north of Limoges, the area was of strategic importance during the One Hundred Years War, and the ruins of the castle at Crozant feature in the pictures below.
